The BTX Tie Extender system allows for borate dual-treatment of bridge ties and switch ties. Because these larger ties are usually not air-dried, dip treatment is not an option. With BTX, reservoir holes are drilled in the ties and filled with Cellu-treat. The holes are then fitted with BTX plugs and pressure-treated. As a vacuum is pulled during the Boulton cycle, the borate is drawn into the center of the tie.
