A Closer Look - How Does Termistop Work?
Termistop flanges and blackouts are a physical barrier to termites, manufactured from high quality stainless steel mesh that termites cannot penetrate. The apertures of the mesh are too small for termites to squeeze through, and the mesh is too hard for termites to chew through.
Before the cement foundation is poured, Termistops are installed on all foundation penetrations and secured to deter termites from using the pipes as an entry to the home. Termistop units come in a number of sizes to cover plumbing penetrations and bath traps.
Termistop earns Green Points under most of the green building rating systems including LEED, EarthCraft, and NAHB Green.
